Solve this SHORT Mystery because.. I tried to write it myself lol!

It was about 5 in the morn that rainy day when George Grinder's body was found dead with a knife plunged into his chest. Amy Grinder, his daughter, was in a state of shock but nevertheless managed to call the police.

Amy's brother, Daniel, told Police Officer Smith :" I was sleeping with my girlfriend Annie when I did hear some strange noises but I never thought anything was happening. It is the deer hunting season and a gun shot would not have made me wonder... this is hunting season."

Annie was shaking as she added :" Yes.. this is shocking. Daniel and I were in the bedroom all night. We didn't go anywhere because he has an ear infection.. We tried to watch a movie we rented last night and he couldn't hear a thing he said. That's was why we kept to the bedroom all night."

Amy gave this account :" I heard the shot because I had just come from party nite week. I saw him in the garden when I came in ..he looked somewhat bothered. He loves his garden a lot. When he is troubled, he sits out in the garden. He did ask me if I had fun and said I needed to to sleep..Then, I woke up when I heard the shot. When I saw him again on the floor.. I called the police.."

WHO ISN'T TELLING THE TRUTH???

(yeah it may sound juvenile.. gimme a break this is my first original short mystery!... be nice and solve the mystery!)

well, as my character Sloan would put it...
It seemes like everybody had something to hide, because the more I listened , I realized that I could tell they were lying because their lips were moving
It gave me the imperssion of a bunch of fish gasping for air before some sussi chef made dinner out of them...
everybody is guilty as sin because the old guy was stabbed, not shot.
Damn I hate this line of work.

Bugsey I love stories like this and I hope you will continue it. Dang I read through it and then came up with an idea and then I read beansplace and wondered why I had not thought about that. I was thinking the boyfriend had an ear infection and could not hear so how did he hear the strange noises outside? Very good...keep them coming...please. :-)

Well, the daughter said she 'heard" the shot...even though her dad was stabbed...??..am I on the right track??

there was no gunshot. george was stabbed. this leads all of them as prime suspects.

daniel said he didn't hear a gunshot because it was deer hunting season. but annie claimed daniel couldn't hear anything because daniel had an ear infection. these two are lying.

amy heard the shot when there was no mention of a gunshot.

the three are accomplices to the crime. : D

where are the CSI agents and the profiler?

True why would he be sitting in the garden if it was raining unless someone took him outside after he was killed.
So that all the evidence got washed away, or he was killed in the garden but wouldn't there be blood?

Maybe he wasn't killed in the garden but in the house. IF he was killed in th garden it could have been a shot:) lol! But he was stabbed and it was hunting season btw:)

a knife would be a clean kill, so I would say stabbed in the heart, lungs, liver, kidney those are all death wounds.

He was in the garden. So somewhere between the garden and where he was found he could have been shot accidentally BUT he wasn't dead. Cause of death was stabbing.... remember? Could the killer have been so confused and guilty that he/she made the wrong report like a fraudian slip?

Okay, it is normal during hunting season to hear shooting. So he could have been shot accidentally. Hunting is not allowed at night though, unless it is a poacher. So how does Amy hear the shot? Did she have problems with her father and want to get rid of him? Maybe there was a HUGE insurance policy. first maybe she shot him but did not take good aim and only "winged him". She panics because she knows her father would tell the cops it was her and not only would she go to prison but she would not collect on the insurance policy. She goes into the kitchen and finds the largest butcher knife in there and walks out to the garden and drives it into her fathers chest. When she realizes he has taken his last breath she calls the police in a panic to cover up her actions.

It was Amy who called the police and take note that her report was "my father was shot". lol!! You're the closest to the story because you have the stuff right. lol! Amy actually reports that her father was shot which is true. Amy isn't the deaf one , it's Daniel so she can hear. They argued after she called the police probably because she came from a party before 5 in the morning! I hope she doesn't get teh insurance !!! hmph!

Daniel was protecting his sister OR was Daniel (Amy's brother) also involved? It could be a crime of passion after an argument about the party:) Yes, Daniel could be covering for his sister and Annie (Daniel's girl) could have been coverinf for Daniel..see it? That was great too:)

Amy is obviously the guilty one. That far is clear. She did lie. But why would Daniel lie and why would Annie lie for Daniel?
